The unique text is introduced to western scholarship and is a 15th c. Gnostic/philosophical allegory based on the game of polo. In this text the model “sameness of knowing and being” serves to inform the unity of the lover and the beloved—a most significant theme in Persian mystical and philosophical traditions.
