Confluence of the Birds

Hosts of birds drawn in simple brushstrokes fill the pages of Hossein’s sketchbooks, unsigned. They’re at once whimsical and sublime, simple and always still, never in flight. Elsewhere in his journals the bird is more complex, as in his Abdullahabad sketchbook where it’s a metaphor for the journey of the soul on its spiritual quest.
